9.4- EVALUATE THE USE SYNTHETIC POLYMER 

1.  Polymer are large molecules made up many identical repeating sub-units called monomer.
2. Monomer are joined  together by covalent bonds to form long chain molecules and this pocess is known as polymerisation.

    3.Two types of polymer: 
       *naturally occuring polymer 
              starch,cellolose,wools,protein,silk,natural rubber.
       *synthetic polymer
              polythene,polyvinyl chloride(PVC),polypropene,perspex,nylon,terylene
    4.Monomers in synthetic polymer and uses:
    








a.Widely used since their properties can be changed according to usage
b.Additionally,it is cheap,easy to form and easy to colour.
c.However synthetic polymers can cause environmental pollution.

 EXPLAINATION HOW SYNTHETIC POLYMERS CAN CAUSE ENVIROMENTAL POLLUTION

1.  Non-biodegradable(cannot be changed to a harmless natural state by the action of bacteria).
2. Improper disposal can cause blockage of drainage which will lead to flash floods. 
3. Burning will produce acidic gas/acid rain and will cause greenhouse affect. 

*the best ways to dispose synthetic polymer is to recycle and reuse it.
